I Catharine Addams of the City of Reading, County of Berks, and State of Pennsylvania, widow and relict of Samuel Addams, late of Lower Heidelberg Township, County and State aforesaid deceased, being of sound mind, memory, and understanding, do make my last will and testament in manner and form following: First. I direct all my just debts and funeral expenses to be fully paid and satisfied by my Executor hereinafter named, as soon as conveniently may be after my decease: Secondly. All the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate real, personal and mixed, of what nature or kind soever, and wheresoever the same shall be at the time of my death, I give, devise, and bequeath to my five daughters, viz.: Rebecca intermarried with Richard Addams; Mary B., widow of John Van Reed; Harriet C. intermarried with Nathan Young; Lydia Ann intermarried with Daniel Albright; and Susan Jane intermarried with Edwin L. Mull, their heirs and assigns forever, share and share alike. And it is my will that if any or either of my said daughters should die leaving children, that said children shall have the share or shares, which their mother or mothers would have been entitled to, if living at the time of my death: Lastly. I do nominate, constitute, and appoint my son-in-law Nathan Young sole Executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I Catharine Addams, the testatrix, have to this my will, set my hand and seal this Second day of June, in the Year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and fifty-six. Signed, sealed, published, and declared by the above named Catharine Addams as and for Catharine Addams her last will and testament in [signature] the presence of us, who have here- unto subscribed our names as wit- nesses thereto, in the presence of the said Testatrix, and of each other.
