All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Barbara Mihalcik christielisabeth@yahoo.com August 13, 2009, 12:13 am Source: Berks County Courthouse Written: December 2, 1749 Will of Jacob Lewengut 1749 Tulpehocken Township Berks County Pennsylvania In the name of God Amen After I Jacob Lewengut of Tulpehockin in Lancaster County yeoman took to heart that all men are mortal, and the hour of death uncertain, I thought it good to ordain my house having yet my good health and understanding and memory as follows first I will make when the immortal Spirit has left my Mortal Body, I may be decently and in a Christian manner Buried, Secondly I will that all my lawfull debts shall be Honestly paid, thirdly I give and bequeath to my only son Jacob Lewengut all my Estate, Moveable and Immovable otherwise Called real Estate for ever as his unretractable inheritance with that promise that he give my dear wife Margred possession in my house (house room) during her life that is one house room one half of the Kitchen and Cellar, and shall give unto her a Sixth part of all that grows on the plantation be it the fields or garden as to what belongs to Hay first and second Crop, he shall in lieu thereof Keep for her a Horse a Cow a Calf and two Sheeps as well as his own, and provide fire wood for her, as much as she wants, and if for any reason at all she could not live with him, he shall build her a Convenient litle house, for her to live in, on any spot on my land where she pleases, and he shall give her every thing that I bequeath to her as above said further my son Jacob Lewengut shall pay unto my daugher Anna Margreda fehler, her heirs or assigns ten pound, pensilvania money in lieu of all her pretension or demand, on my Estate moveable or immoveable further my said son shall pay to my daughter Anna Barbara her heirs or assigns five pound pensilvania money in Lieu of all her pretension on my Estate moveable or Im moveable Item I ordain and name my said son Jacob Lewengut Executor of this my last will and Testament I annul all former wills and Testaments by me heretofore made, be they in writing or verbal and ordain this present only to be my last will and testament for the Confirmation whereof I set my hand and Seal thereto done the second day of December Anno one thousand seven hundred and forty nine. his Jacob I Lewengut Mark Signed sealed published and pronunced by the said Jacob Lewengut as his last will and testament in the presence of us Conrad Weiser Wm Parson Jacob Rith The foregoing is truly translated from the German original by me Conrad Weiser … literaly translated This translation is apparently in Conrad Weiser’s handwriting.
