  JOHN GRANT ANDERSON - An outstanding business man, notable in the 
financial affairs of his community, and prominent in the social circles of 
Allegheny, Blair, and Center counties, John Grant Anderson may look back 
upon years filled with creative and progressive activities.  He was born in 
Keene, Coshocton County, Ohio, October 29, 1863, the son of John and Anne 
(Stevenson) Anderson, his father a well-known and respected physician of 
Keene.  Attending the public and high schools in Coshocton County, he was 
graduated from the high school in 1880, and then entered the Iron Business 
College in Pittsburgh, from which he was graduated in April, 1881.  
Immediately upon his leaving the business college, he obtained a position 
with the Morrison and Cass Paper Company of Pittsburgh, receiving the 
appointment of secretary and treasurer of the company at Tyrone, in 
December, 1890.  In 1910 the Morrison & Cass Paper Company was merged with 
the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company, and Mr. Anderson was appointed the 
consolidated concern's manager of their mills located at Tyrone and at 
Williamsburg.  He is the president of the First National Bank at Tyrone, a 
Republican in politics, and an attendant of the Presbyterian Church.  He is 
a member of the following clubs:  Tyrone, Blairmont Country, of 
Hollidaysburg; Spruce Creek Rod and Gun, of Franklinville, Nittany Country, 
of Bellefonte, and of the Americus Republican Club, of Pittsburgh.
  Mr. Anderson married, in Philadelphia, December 26, 1916, Margaret Hooker, 
the daughter of Cornelius Hull and Frances (Sanders) Hooker.  They have no 
children.
