DAUGHERTY is a young physician of Tyrone who has done some notable work for municipal and State institutions and who is rapidly rising in the medical profession of Blair County. He is former pathologist of the Rochester General Hospital, of Rochester, Beaver County, and former physician for the State clinics at Rochester and Woodlawn. A World War veteran, he is active in civic affairs of Tyrone, and is popular in the borough. He is well known in sport circles. Dr. Daugherty was born in Jeannette, Westmoreland County, May 19, 1894, the son of S. Clark Daugherty, a native of the borough of Indiana, Indiana County, a successful druggist of Jeannette, and Netting (Bunting) Daugherty, a native of Philadelphia. He first attended the public schools of Jeannette, and was graduated from the Jeannette High School. He then took the course of pharmacy at the Pittsburgh College of Pharmacy, from which he was graduated in 1914 with the degree of graduate in pharmacy. This he supplemented with a general academic course of study in the University of Pittsburgh, from which he received the degree of Bachelor of Science in 1916. Dr. Daugherty obtained his degree of Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1918, and for one year, from 1918 to 1919, he served on the internes' staff at the Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. In 1919 he went to Beaver, the county capital of Beaver County, and practiced his profession there until 1924, when he came to Tyrone. It was during his practice in Beaver that Dr. Daugherty was pathologist of the Beaver General Hospital and physician for the State clinics at Rochester and Woodlawn. Dr. Daugherty is a member of the Blair County Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the Pennsylvania State Medical Society. He also holds memberships in the Phi Gamma Delta and Nu Sigma Nu fraternities, and the American Legion. He served in the Medical Reserve Corps of the United States Army during the World War. Dr. Daugherty attends the Methodist Church of Tyrone, where he maintains offices in the Merchants' and Farmers' National Bank Building. Active in sport circles, he is known especially for his skill in riding and swimming, and he devotes much time to his hobby - music.
