Fluke had invariable shown in the direction of the former business interests of the firm J. B. Fluke & Sons, Hubert Washington Fluke in his present official capacity with the Fluke Company, Incorporated, continues with increasing value to the industrial community, the lumber business that is already a landmark in the general progress of Altoona. Mr. Fluke, who made proof of his active patriotism during the World War, is one of the foremost citizens of Altoona, and as an organizer and counsellor in business interests his advice and direction are held in high esteem. He is the son of J. B. and Luverna S. Fluke (see preceding sketch). Hubert Washington Fluke was born February 22, 1897, at Yellow Creek, and he attended the public schools at Altoona, graduating at the high school in 1915. Upon the death of his father, in 1916, who had established the lumber business of J. B. Fluke & Sons, Mr. Fluke, in 1917, in association with his brother R. E. Fluke, shared in the new business changes under the name Fluke Company, Incorporated, with Robert E. Fluke as president, and Hubert W. Fluke as secretary and treasurer. Mr. Fluke is a member and director of the Liberty Building and Loan Association. During the World War, Mr. Fluke served eighteen months in the United States Army Transport Department, and went overseas as a member of the 3d Detachment with headquarters at Camp Hill. He is a member of the Altoona Chamber of Commerce, Altoona Boosters' Association, Lions Club, Blairmont Country Club, Spruce Creek Rod and Gun Club. He is member of the Trinity Reformed Church. Hubert Washington Fluke married, October 29, 1922, at Altoona, Dorothy Fraker, daughter of J. M. and Sarah Fraker, and they are the parents of Andrea Jane and Joan Eleanor Fluke. Mrs. Fluke is a member of the Methodist Church.
