GARVER, was born October 18, 1887, the son of Abraham Lincoln, and Ella (Bare) Garver, who is living. Ivan E. Garver is a prominent business man of Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania, the town of his birth. He attended the public school and high school of Roaring Spring, thence went to the Andover Academy, and from that institution entered Harvard University, but he did not complete the University course. After leaving Harvard, Mr. Garver entered business with his father, being connected with the Roaring Spring Blank Hook Book Company in 1907. Filling various positions in that enterprise, he became treasurer and general manager of the company, and this position he still holds. The Roaring Spring Blank Book Company was established in 1886 by D. M. Bare, A. L. Garver, D. R. Wike, and E. G. Bobb as equal partners. The company was incorporated in 1907, with E. G. Bobb as president, J. W. Smith as vice-president, Ivan E. Garver as treasurer and general manager, and Russell B. Garver as secretary, (see following biography). The purpose of the concern is the manufacture of blank books, copy pads, school stationery and like materials. The concern was developed mainly by A. L. Garver, Ivan E. Garver's father, from 1892 to the time of his death in 1920. The company is the largest of its kind in Pennsylvania. It has agents throughout the United States and the West Indies, and employs two hundred persons. Its plant occupies three acres of floor space. In politics Mr. Garver is a Republican. In fraternal circles he is devoted to Masonry, being a member of the local lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, and of all other bodies of that order, including the thirty-second degree and the Shrine. He is a member of the Blairmont Country Club, the Altoona Cricket Club, the Spruce Creek Rod and Gun Club, the Seaview Golf Club, and other social bodies. His hobby is golf. In religion he is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
