GARVER - A son of Abraham Garver, one of the founders of the well-known business of the Roaring Spring Blank Book Company, Russell B. Garver, born in Roaring Spring, December 27, 1892, is a popular man in that town. He attended the public school and the high school of Roaring Spring, and after graduation from the latter institution entered Williams College, from which he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in the class of 1915. Mr. Garver worked for two and a half years as a chemist for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He then was connected for a like period with his father as a clerk. In 1920 he was made secretary of the Roaring Spring Blank Book Company, and still remains in that position, his brother, Ivan F. Garver being treasurer and general manager for the enterprise (see preceding biography). In politics Mr. Garver is a Republican. He is a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, and all other bodies of the order, including the thirty- second degree and the Shrine. He belongs to the Blairmont Country Club, the Altoona Cricket Club, and the Spruce Creek Rod and Gun Club. In religion he is a Presbyterian. Mr. Garver married, on June 28, 1919, Elizabeth Beck, and they are the parents of one daughter, Nancy Jane Garver, aged five years (1925).
