Mr. Moore's father, Johnson Moore, was in the lumber and real estate business in Altoona. He was born in Scotch Valley, below Williamsburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania, and was educated in the public schools of Altoona and a business college in Pittsburgh. With his brother he became a partner in the lumber business of their father after his death. This partnership was dissolved, and Charles Wilson Moore entered the brick and tile business. He was a large real estate owner also and did business in that field. He retired from business, and with Mrs. Moore traveled extensively for eight months, traversing the United States and going to the Hawaiian Islands. Upon their return Mr. Moore suffered a collision with a cyclist in Altoona, and was seriously injured. He died in a North Philadelphia hospital, October 15, 1915, and was mourned by a multitude of friends. Mr. Moore was a Presbyterian in religion. On March 3, 1880, at Altoona, Mr. Moore married Mary Aikens, of Milroy, Pennsylvania, daughter of Hugh and Jane (McClintoch) Aikens. Her father was born in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, in 1808, and educated in the public schools of Milroy. He was a large real estate owner, and owner also of an iron foundry. He was the son of John Aikens, who came to this country from Scotland.
