FRANK VAUGHN - Among the lawyers in Altoona, Pennsylvania, noted for character and highly esteemed, is W. Frank Vaughn, who was born in Neury [Newry], Blair County, in that State, September 21, 1870. His father, George H. Vaughn, born in Neury [Newry], was engaged as a brick-maker until his death in 1922. He was a veteran of the Civil War, and served with the 125th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was wounded in action at the battle of Chancellorsville. Mr. Vaughn's mother, Anna M. (Dicker) Vaughn, was born in Sharpsburg, Maryland, and is still living. Mr. Vaughn was educated in the public and high school of Altoona, and upon leaving school he studied law in the office of Milton Alexander. He was admitted to the bar in 1895, and has practiced successfully ever since in Altoona. His office is in the Central Trust Building. Mr. Vaughn is a member of the Blair County, the Pennsylvania State, and the American Bar associations. He is also a member of the Altoona Chamber of Commerce. His fraternal affiliation is with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. In 1895, Mr. Vaughn married Margaret C. Aspell, who was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Their children are: Kenneth B.; Francis N., who served in the United States Navy during World War; E. Wayne, who served in the United States Marine Corps during that period and saw active service in France with the American Expeditionary Forces, and was gassed in action; and Theresa M. Mr. Vaughn attends the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
