All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ Indiana County Deed Book ?, pp. 95-96 Elijah Cassidy and Wife Dorothy (Conrad) to Mary Ann Malone This INDENTURE made the 23rd day of January in the Year of our Lord, one thousand eight-hundred and fifty-five Between Elijah Cassidy and Dorothy, his wife of the township of Burrell in the County of Indiana and State of Pennsylvania (formerly of Blair County) of the first part and Mary Ann Malone of Freedom, Juniata Township, Blair County and State aforesaid of the Second part - Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred and Seventy-five Dollars lawful money of the United States of America unto him well and truly paid by the said party of the Second part, at or before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, Sold, Aliened, enfeoffed, released, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents do grant,- bargain, Sell, Alien, enfeoff, release, convey and confirm with the Said party of the second part, his heirs and consigns, all the following described lot of ground situate in the Town of Freedom, Juniata Township, Blair County and State of Pennsylvania, Beginning at a Cursion of Robert Gold's lot, thence by side of Bedford Street South- fourteen degrees West - Sixty feet - to a post - thence North Seventy- Six degrees East one hundred and forty-Eight and one half feet to a post- thence North fourteen degrees East sixty-feet to a post and thence South Seventy-Six degrees East - one hundred and forty-Eight and a half feet to a post - and place of Beginning, Containing thirty- two perches being the Same house unless it being a lot of ground, which Christian Z. FARBER conveyed to Catherine Farber and by her death bearing date the 28th of July 1849 became vested in Elijah Cassidy. TOGETHER with all and Singular the Buildings, improvements, water, water courses rights, liberties, privileges, hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging, or in any way appertaining, and the reversions and the remainders, rents and profits thereof; and all the Estate, rights, Bills and interests, property- claim whatsoever of the Said parties of the first-part-in law, equity or otherwise, however, of, in and to the Same and Every part thereof, To have and to hold the Said described Lot - hereditaments, and premises hereby granted or mentioned and intended So-to-be with the appurtenances with the Said party of the Second part, her heirs and assigns to and for the only proper use and behalf of the Said party - of the Second part, her heirs and assigns forever. AND Elijah Cassidy and Dorothy, his Wife, the said party of the first-part, their heirs, Executors and Administrators doth by these presents covenant-grant and agree to and with the Said party of the second part- his heirs that the Said party of the first part - their heirs all and Singular, the hereditaments, premises herein above described and granted or mentioned and intended So-to-be with the appurtenances unto the Said party - of the Second part, her heirs and assigns against hem, the Said party - of the first part - and their heirs and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever, lawfully claiming or to claim the same as any part thereof, Shall and will forever Defend. WITNESS: Archibald Davis Elijah Cassidy INDIANA COUNTY On the 23rd day of January Anno Domini 1855, before me a Justice of the Peace personally came the above named Elijah Cassidy and Dorothy, his wife, and acknowledged the above Indenture to be their act and deed and decision that the Same might be recorded as such. SHE, the said Dorothy, being of full age and by me examined Separate and apart from her Said husband and the content of the Said Indenture being first made fully known to her, declared that she did of her own free will and accord, Sign and Seal, and so, her act, and did deliver the same without any exertion or compulsion of her Said husband. WITNESS my hand and seal the day and Year aforesaid. RECORDED the 8th Day ) of June A.D. 1855 ) by D. M. Jones ) Archibald Davis Note: Elijah Cassidy was the son of Robert Cassidy and Mary Dodson. His wife, Dorothea, was the daughter of Henry J. Conrad and Catherine Stiffler. Elijah and Dorothea had sold their property in Blair County to Mary Malone and were on their way West to Ohio. I believe this Mary Malone was Mary Conrad Malone, sister of Dorothy Conrad Cassidy. If anyone can verify that or knows the name of the Malone she married, please contact the submitter.
