Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, a court record within and for the County and State aforesaid, MARTIN H. MACKEY aged 49 years, a resident of the City of ALTOONA, County of BLAIR, State of PENNSYLVANIA, who being duly sworn according to law declares the he is the identical MARTIN H. MACKEY who was ENROLLED on the 15th day of AUGUST, 1862, in COMPANY "F" of the 148 REGIMENT OF INFANTRY, PENNSYLVANIA VOLUNTEERS commanded by CAPT. MARTIN DOLIN AND WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED at MOWER U. S. A. GENERAL HOSPITAL, PHILADELPHIA, PA on 22 day of MAY, 1865; that his personal description is as follows: AGE 49 YEARS; HEIGHT 5 feet 9 inches; COMPLEXION DARK; HAIR BROWN; EYES BROWN. That while a member of the organization aforesaid, in the service and in the line of his duty at or near GETTYSBURG and in the State of PENNSYLVANIA on or about the 5th day of JUNE OR JULY, 1863, he suffered with PILES and CONSTANT DIARRHEA, which was contracted while on a FORCED MARCH FROM FULMOUTH, VA TO GETTYSBURG, PA, in the month of JUNE OR JULY, 1863. That he was treated in hospitals as follows: 1st treated for said PILES and CHRONIC DIARRHEA In the HOSPITAL at WASHINGTON, D.C., in JULY OR AUGUST 1863 then in MOWER U. S. A. GENERAL HOSPITAL, PHILADELPHIA, PA in AUGUST and so on until MAY 22, 1865 when DISCHARGED. That he has NOT been employed in the military or naval service otherwise than as stated above. That since leaving the service this applicant has resided in the County of BLAIR in the State of PENNSYLVANIA, and his occupation has been that of a CARPENTER. That prior to his entry into the service above named he was a man of good, sound, physical health, being when enrolled a CARPENTER. That he is now ONE FOURTH DISABLED from obtaining his subsistence by manual labor by reason of his injuries, above described, received in the service of the United States; and he therefore makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the invalid pension roll of the United States. MACKEY Aged 63 YEARS, a resident of the City of ALTOONA, County of BLAIR, State of PENNSYLVANIA, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical MARTIN H. MACKEY who was ENROLLED on the 15th day of AUGUST, 1862 in COMPANY "F", 148TH REGIMENT, PENNSYLVANIA VOLUNTEERS INFANTRY, he was in no military or naval of the U.S. prior to AUGUST 15, 1862, nor since MAY 22, 1865 in the service of the United States in the war of the rebellion, and served at least ninety day, and was HONORABLEY DISCHARGED at PHILADELPHIA, PA on the 22nd day of MAY, 1865. That he is ALMOST TOTALLY unable to earn a support by manual labor by reason of CHRONIC DIARRHEA and PILES which was contacted while in said service and line of duty as stated in his former application and he has an injury of LEFT HAND and part of FINGER of same off next the little finger and little finger injury, which occurred about 1881 while running a molding drive in a Planing, and he suffers with Rheumatism and general debility. That said disabilities are not due to his vicious habits, and are to the best of his knowledge and belief of a PERMANENT character. That he has applied for pension under application NO: 421.578. That he has NOT been employed in the military or naval service otherwise than as stated above. MACKEY on this day of 23rd day of MAY, A.D., 1896 Personally appeared before me an Alderman in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths, WILLIAM I. MACKEY aged 57 years, a resident of ALTOONA in the County of BLAIR and State of PENNSYLVANIA well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid case as follows: I have been personally and intimately acquainted with said claimant ever since I can remember of any person, and each year to this date, and from my personal knowledge and observation during said acquaintance he had no vicious habits and I know that his disease DIARRHEA PILES and RHEMUATISM is not due to vicious habits. I was a member with him in COMPANY "F", 148TH REGIMENT, PENNSYLVANIA INFANTRY VOLUNTEERS, during which time he contracted CHRONIC DIARRHEA and PILES and the RHEMUATISM disease. I was in the presence of T. H. NICESWONGER of ALTOONA, PA and in the office MAY 23, 1896, and I dictated the above to him to write and in doing so I was not prompted nor aided in any way whatever. MACKEY aged 74 years and 7 months, late a member of COMPANY "F", 148TH REGIMENT OF PENNSYLVANIA VOLUNTEERS INFANTRY, a residence of ALTOONA County of BLAIR and state of PENNSYLVANIA, whose Post Office Address is No. 805-8th Ave, Altoona, Blair County, PA, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is a pensioner of the United States under request of June 27, 1896 enrolled in the Pittsburgh Agency, at the rate of $10.00 per month on certificate No. 930.440 by reason of putative inability to earn a support by manual labor, and states he believes himself to be entitled to an increase of pension because of age limit and increased disability MARTIN H. MACKEY who being duly sworn according to law declares that he is 75 YEARS of age, and a resident of ALTOONA County of BLAIR, State of PENNSYLVANIA; and the he is the identical person who was ENROLLED at MILESBURG, CENTRE COUNTY, PA under the name of MARTIN H. MACKEY, on the 15th day of AUGUST, 1862 as a PRIVATE, in COMPANY "F" 148TH REGIMENT PENNSYLVANIA VOLUNTEERS INFANTRY in the United States in the CIVIL WAR, and was HONORABLEY DISCHARGED at PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, on the 22nd day of MAY, 1865. That he also served in ----None That he was not employed in the military or naval service of the United States otherwise than as stated above. MACKEY, who enlisted under the name of MARTIN H. MACKEY, on the 15th day of AUGUST, A.D., 1862, as a SERGEANT in COMPANY"F", IN THE 148TH REGIMENT of PENNSYLVANIA INFANTRY, and served at least 90 days in the late War of the Rebellion, in the service of the United States, who was HONORABLY DISCHARGED MAY 22, 1865 and died APRIL 9TH, 1913. That he was NOT employed in the military or naval service otherwise than as stated above.
