L. Murray, of Roaring Spring, Listed Altoona and Blair county boys are now fighting for world democracy in France and each passing day the casualty list has included some of their names. Robert W. McMinn, of 315 East Bell avenue, in a letter to his mother tells her that he has been wounded and is now in a hospital back of the lines. A friend penned the lines for him. He went over with the Supply company, No. 100, Bellevue unit, base hospital several months ago. The young man don't say how he was wounded, when or where. He said "Just a few lines. Presume you will know by the time you receive this letter I'm injured but am pulling around all right. In two months I'll be back at them again, so don't worry about me. I have good nurses, good doctors and am getting the best of eats. A friend is writing this for me." J. L. Murray, of Roaring Spring, was listed in yesterday's casualty list as among the severely wounded. He is the son of Mrs. Mildred Shaffer, of Rodman, near Roaring Spring, who received word of her son being wounded, from the government. The message stated that he had been severely wounded in action on July 26. The young man is aged 18 years, was among the first of Roaring spring boys to enlist and was trained at Fort Ringgold, Tex. He was attached to the First Machine Gun company, Twenty-eighth infantry. His mother had no word from him in several weeks. Altoona Tribune, Thursday morning, August 8, 1918, page 10
