Other Week-End Cases Eight men were arrested at 2.45 a.m. yesterday at 1808 Fourteenth avenue for gambling, by police, and Harry Adams, the alleged proprietor with seven others were required to put up securities for hearings tomorrow afternoon. Harry Conesky, Charles and H. Green, H. Neider, Adolph Arndt, J. Moore and H. Mitchell were the names given by the alleged inmates of the establishment. No money was confiscated with the cards that the officers seized. Adams left $100.80 security, and each of his companions furnished $25.80. Eight common drunks, one drunk who was openly lewd and Harry Lindsey, drunk and disorderly at Ninth avenue and Eighteenth street, were also apprehended over the week-end. Nearly all the inebriates managed to get security of $3.80 each. Lindsey provided $10.80 for his release. Ruggi George, colored, and C. Cafferelli, an Italian, were taken to police station at 3.45 p.m. Saturday following a fight at Ninth avenue and Ninth street. Each left $10.80 security. At police court, two drunks forfeited #3.80, two were fined #3.00 and one drunk and disorderly forfeited $10.80 security. Altoona Tribune, Monday morning, September 2, 1918, page 8 ALDERMANIC NOTES Cases Heard or To Be Disposed of In Courts of Local Magistrates John Dougherty was arrested Saturday on the charge of defrauding Mrs. Minnie Roche, a local boarding house keeper out of 49. He will be accorded a hearing by Alderman Gorsuch, Third ward. Walter Reed, colored, brought a charge Saturday afternoon before Alderman T. D. Crawford of the Fifth ward, against Mary Spriggs, also colored, to recover $40 which he alleges she stole from him. The case will be heard today.
