Denny, rector of the parish of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, will observe the 30th year of his ordination on Wednesday, Aug. 18. Other pastors of the Altoona diocese who will mark their anniversaries at the same time include Rev. Father John B. Hackett of St. John Gaulbert's parish, Johnstown; Rev. Father Michael F. Brett of St. James parish, South Fork; Rev. Father R. D. Silberhon of St. Joseph's parish, Lloydell, and Rev. Father Michael E. Zamba of St. Stephen's parish, Johnstown. Father Denny has been rector of the Cathedral parish since All Saints' day, 1939, and administered the charge for a year prior to that time. He also holds several other important posts in the diocesan curia. From 1933 to 1944 he was a synod judge on the diocesan tribunal. Since January, 1944, Father Denny has held the position of promoter justitiae. On March 5, 1948, he was named a diocesan consultor. A native of Altoona, Father Denny claims St. Patrick's parish, Gallitzin, as his home. In addition to serving as assistant at Cresson and Loretto, he was the first resident pastor of St. Joseph's church, Williamsburg, from 1922 to 1925. He also served as rector of St. Thomas church, Ashville, and St. Patrick's, Spangler, before coming to Altoona. The five priests were elevated to the holy priesthood by the first ordinary of the diocese, Bishop Eugene A. Garvey, Aug. 18, 1918. Altoona Mirror, Friday, August 13, 1948, page 25
