Jim is "one of the soldiers you read about," having been in all the hard fought battles in which the Army of the Potomac has been engaged, in all of which he distinguished himself by his coolness, courage and daring. Promoted - We are pleased to learn that our gallant young soldier friend, Lieut. Alf. Hicks, has been promoted to the Captaincy of Company C, 76th P.V. We congratulate him on his accession to the "extra bar", and are sure that he will wear his new honors with that becoming modesty and gallantry that always characterize the true soldier.
