All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ Altoonans' Kin: MARGARET JUSTICE Blair Native To Celebrate 98th Birthday Mrs. Margaret Justice of Colevllle, Centre county, who will celebrate her 98th birthday on Saturday, is believed to he the oldest woman resident of the Bellefonte area. She suffered a fractured hip in a fall 12 years ago and has since required crutches in moving about but otherwise is hale and hearty, with a forceful manner and keen memory. She was born July 17, 1850, between Williamsburg and Etna, Blair county, and was residing at Springfield mines, near Williamsburg, when she married Samuel Justice, who died 22 years ago. Her parents were George and Elizabeth Jane Updyke, She was one of 13 children and had 13 children of her own. Six children are living, Mrs. Elizabeth Meyer and John Justice of Altoona, James of Bellefonte, Homer of Pleasant View, Mrs. Clayton Rote of Coleville and Alfred at home; 23 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great- grandchildren. One brother and one sister, John Updyke of Johnstown and Mrs. Belle Reed of Tyrone also are living. Mrs. Justice is a member of the Pilgrim Holiness church at Coleville.
