Then in 1833, they moved to their present location. David Beyer, father of host, settled in Sinking Valley about 1800 and built the first grist mill. All but 3 of David's children have passed away: Abraham Beyer (dieing), Rebecca Betts, the only sister, who resides in Akron, OH, & Aaron Beyer, the youngest of the family. The parents of Mrs. Lydia Beyer were Frederick and Martha Ramey. Frederick Ramey was born in Germany 14 Dec 1785 and died 4 July 1866. He married Martha Keller in 1807. They had 12 children: 5 sons and 7 daughters. Two died in infancy - a son and a dau. Jacob Ramey, the eldest, died 20 Jul 1855, Lydia, the eldest dau. married Aaron Beyer, Daniel, Mary, Ann, David K., Elizabeth, Solomon & Barbara, all of whom have reared a family except the latter, who never married. Of the children of Aaron & Lydia Beyer, living are: F. D. Beyer, of Tyrone, Liza, wife of George W. Kessler of Altoona, Marhta, wife of James H. Dysart of Altoona, Westley, recently married, young Sarah, sho married the late Rev. Mr. Bain, Miss Kate, still at home & last William, a law student. Three of their children celebrate Silver Anniversaries this year, Miss James H. Dysart in March, Mrs. George W. Kessler in November and F. D. Beyer in December. Her husband died in 1852 a wealthy man. She lived in Altoona area before Altoona became a town. She has resided here for all but 8 years of her life. She may well be our oldest citizen. He then went back home until 1831, when he was married to Miss Kazia McFadden, late of Lancaster Co., but at that time residing in Bedford Co. The Funeral of the former city engineer, F. E. Lytle, took place yeaterday afternoon. The Empire Hook and Ladder Co., of which the deceased was a member, turned out in a body. Stevens died at the residence of her son-in-law, Captain Robert Johnson, Altoona, 20 Jan 1881, widow of the late S. R. Stevens, and was 72 years old. The funeral will be held in Williamsburg. Her father was Jesse Pintell, who died in 1812. He was of English decent & was born in VA. His mother was the sister of the late Cheif Justice Marshal. Her great grandfather was a Huguenot who left France & settled in England. Her mother was a daughter of the late John Morrison, a Revolutionary war soldier, who moved from Lancaster to Huntingdon in 1797. She was Methodist. She settled in Williamsburg in 1826 with her husband, Samuel R. Stevens. He was the son of Rev. James Stevens, who died in this place in 1859. Her husband died in this place in 18_4 (the binding was too tight to make out the date clearly.)
