She was born at Lancaster on Jan. 22, 1848, but spent most of her life in Altoona. Mrs. Nixdorf is the widow of Harry Nixdorf, a former restaurant and ice cream man who died thirty-six years ago. Mr. Nixdorf was the first person who ever sold shell oysters in Altoona in 1868. He had his restaurant on Front street, now Tenth avenue, between Thirteenth and Fourteenth streets. Mrs. Nixdorf is in good health, considering her age, being still able to go about the city and to visit with friends. She makes her home with a son. She has three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The aged woman is eagerly looking forward to March 1 when she hopes to again visit the William F. Gable company store, she being one of the persons who made a purchase at the store on its opening day, March 1, 1884. Altoona Mirror, January 21, 1933
