PAGE SAFE WITH COMPANY G IN FANCE CORPORAL C. W. PAGE* [photo] A letter received from Corporal C. W. Page a day or two ago by relatives in the city is the first news of the soldier boy since he landed safely on the other side. Recently rumors were put in circulation that he had been wounded and was in a base hospital, but these have proved unfounded. Page enlisted in Company G, Tenth Regiment, N.G.P., in February, 1916, and went with the command to the Mexican border. When the command returned home he entered the Pennsy shops at Fourth street, worked for a few months and then went to Joliet, Ill, where he remained until he was summoned home to rejoin the Tenth and go to Camp Hancock for training for the big world war. At Camp Hancock he was made a kitchen sergeant but on reaching the other side he was made a corporal, having been transferred to another branch of service with four bombers and four messengers under his command. He says in his letter that he has seen sights that are beyond description and are incentive enough to make any red-blooded American fight.
