Granges of the county were well represented and the meeting was both pleasant and profitable. The program consisted of discussions on topics of special interest to farmers, interspersed with music, readings, etc. Among the other important events of the day was the dedication of the grange Service flag. This event was conducted in a masterly manner by H. F. Cox, of Logan Valley grange. In his fine address, he referred feelingly to the sacrifices made by the boys over there, and urgently requested those who remain at home to stand by them in every possible way. He also made an appeal for the conservation of food and gave excellent reasons for same. There are fifteen stars on the grange service flag divided among the granges of the county as follows: Allegheny Grange, Horace Harper, Kenneth Forsht, Adie Keller, W. B. Montgomery; Poplar Run Grange - Orpha Wilt (nurse), Orvile Wilt, Leo Diehl; Sinking Valley: J. F. Hardy, William Smith, L. B. Long; Juniata Grange, Jno. Coleman; Bald Eagle Valley Grange - Calvin Norman, Albert Friday; Logan Valley Grange - Harry R. Gwin, Herman Wertz. Resolutions were adopted as follows: Whereas it is an accepted fact that the farmer is one of the most important factors in the present world conflict and that he stands in the front rank as a patriotic citizen. Therefore be it resolved that we a representative farmers organization do heartily endorse the efforts that are being made by agricultural associations for the general welfare of all those engaged in tilling the soil, and be it also: Resolved that this Grange send a representative to the meeting of up to date farmers, to be held at Washington, D.C. on August 27-19. Resolved that we members of Blair county Pomona Grange extend our sincere thanks to the Eldorado Grange for the liberal manner in which we have been entertained at this meeting.
