Miss Florence Hinkle, of Philadelphia, is a guest at the home of Miss Bertha Hammel. Miss Gertie Law, of Carlisle, is spending her vacation with Miss Laura McCormick, 707 Eighth street. Miss Julia Reichelderfer, of Tamaqua, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Eli Halderman, 2103 Ninth avenue. Mr. D. M. McQuown, postmaster at Punxsutawney, accompanies by his wife and son, are visiting in the city. Mr. Joseph Kalbfus, chief game warden of the state, and Assistant Joseph Berrier were visitors in the city yesterday. Mrs. Mary Prosser and two children, of New York, are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Kahle, 1016 Bridge street. Mrs. Andy Schimminger and son, Clair, will leave tomorrow for a two weeks' visit to Philadelphia, Atlantic City and New York. Mr. Frank Baker, of Kansas City, Mo., is the guest of his brother, Mr. Boyd Baker, chief clerk at McCartney's stationery store. Mr. John Toohey, of Pittsburg, accompanied by his mother, was a recent visitor to his grandmother, Mrs. Canty, of Eleventh street. Mr. E. F. Whitman, of the firm of Whitman & Artman, ladies' furnishers, left for eastern cities yesterday to purchase a new stock of goods. Miss Grace F. Pardoe and Miss Mame McBurney are rusticating at the Chautauqua assembly, New York, and will visit Rochester, Niagara Falls and Toronto, Can., before their return. Attorney W. A. Haggerty, a prominent member of the Clearfield county bar, is in the city the guest of ex-United States Commissioner A. P. McLeod. He says Altoona has grown wonderfully during the past fifteen years. Mr. Herbert Funk, chief clerk for W. H. Peters, the grocer, and Mr. Howard Haupt, chief utility man at the same establishment, left for an extended drive to Gettysburg, Pa., Woodsboro, Md., Frederick City, Md.
