A Sealed Verdict in the Case of Jonathan Folk vs. The City. The Blair county courts reconvened yesterday morning at 9 o'clock at Hollidaysburg, Hon. John Dean presiding. Following is the record of business transacted: Hewit - The report of Ben L. Hewit, esq., auditor appointed to distribute the funds arising from the sheriff's sale of the real estate of George A. McCormick, was confined nisi. Woodcock, W. L. - The appointment of C. B. Clark, esq., as receiver of the Altoona brush company, limited, was vacated, and all the proceedings related thereto was set as de. Woodcock, W. L. - The bond of Rev. James H. McCord for the protection of the creditors of the Altoona brush company, limited, was approved. In the case for damages brought by Jonathan Folk against the city of Altoona, the evidence in which case had closed on Thursday, arguments were made to the jury by J. D. Hicks, esq., for the plaintiff, and N. P. Mervine, esq., for the city defendants. After receiving the instructions of his honor the jury retired, at 11 o'clock, to their room, and, after deliberating for eight hours, made up and sealed their verdict at 7 o'clock last night and then departed for their homes. The court will hear the verdict of the jury at 9 o'clock this morning. Local Brevities. Miss Lucy M. Remberg and Eva R. Coblentz are visiting at the home of Rev. Lloyd E. Coblentz. Conrad F. Clothier__, jr., and wife (nee Reibenack), of Philadelphia, are the guests of H. Price Graffius and wife, No. 1116 Twelfth avenue. Rev. A. R. Miller, pastor of the Chestnut Avenue Methodist Episcopal church, has had the degree of doctor of divinity conferred upon him by his alma mater, the Allegheny college, situated at Meadville, Pa. Rev. Miller was a member of the class of '62, and is deserving of the honor which has been bestowed upon him. The first entertainment to be given under the auspices of the Altoona Mechanic's library will occur on Tuesday evening, the 27th inst., a lecture by C. J. Hexamer, subject, "Baltic to the Volga." Tickets of admission to the entertainments are being issued by the librarian to members in good standing, viz: those whose dues are paid up. TYRONE TOPICS. Yesterday afternoon Colonel Daniel D. Wood departed on mail express west and was joined at Altoona by his son, C. A. Wood, and together they journeyed to Tiffin, Ohio, where they will visit friends and look after some landed interests of value. Allie, son of Dr. D. J. Appleby, who was brought home from school, Bordentown Military Institute, New Jersey, on Wednesday last, suffering from rheumatism, is, we are pleased to learn, improving and will shortly be able to return and resume his studies. Mr. A. T. Heintzleman, wife and young son, of Hollidaysburg, having in charge Miss Emma Jane Gifford, of the ancient borough, who have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Lytle, at their home on Logan street the past few days, returned home last evening. HOLLIDAYSBURG HAPPENINGS. George Jacobs, son of Mr. C. B. Jacobs, will take his departure to- day for Columbia, in the Palmetto state, where he has secured a position in the motive power department, of the Richmond and Danville railroad. George is one of Hollidaysburg's bright and promising young men and we predict for him a successful business career.
