The sixth annual reunion of the Turnbaugh family will be held at the home of John Turnbaugh, of Sugar Run, on Saturday. Members of the family living in Altoona will go in the Eldorado car to the end of the line. There a bus will meet them from 9:30 on and convey them to Sugar Run. On account of the warm the menu will not be as elaborate as usual but a Hooverized lunch will be enjoyed. The social features of the day will be along the lines of those of former years. The reunion has always been held at the home of John Turnbaugh and a delightful time is in store for those who attend. Altoona Tribune, Tuesday, August 13, 1918, page 5 TURNBAUGH REUNION Sixth Annual Function at Home of J. A. Turnbaugh, Sugar Run The sixth annual reunion of the Turnbaugh family was held at the home of John A. Turnbaugh, Sugar Run, the old homestead. The beginning of the day was not favorable for holding a reunion. It was not until 11 o'clock that the guests began to arrive for the occasion, and of course, there was a very small portion of the program carried out before dinner was served, which is always considered a very important part of the program. By this time all had arrived. An address of welcome was delivered by Mr. George B. Turnbaugh, of Pittsburg. Then the business meeting was called to order, the minutes of the last meeting were read, and approved. Two deaths were reported since the last reunion had taken place - Clair Burkhart, of South Altoona, and Henry Turnbaugh of Algna, Iowa. The next in order was the election of officers. By a motion it was unanimously decided to retain the present board for the ensuing year, and the following officers again serve for the next term. President, D. H. Turnbaugh, Altoona; secretary, E. E. Turnbaugh, Spring Meadows; treasurer, C. M. Little, Blairsville. After the election of officers points for the best interests of the reunion were discussed freely. The president appointed George B. Turnbaugh of Pittsburg, E. R. Cox and H. L. Diggins, of Altoona, to draft a resolution in behalf of the boys over there. The committee returned with the following resolution: "Be it resolved at this meeting, the sixth annual reunion of the Turnbaugh family, to see that our boys in the service should be reminded of our glorious day spent at the home of John A. Turnbaugh, of Sugar Run, by sending you our best wishes for your continued success, and with the thought of you this day and with our hope that peace may crown your efforts to the point that you may be with us to enjoy the added pleasure of your presence on the first Saturday after the fifteenth of August, 1919, at the same place. The resolution was adopted. After the business meeting adjourned the rest of the day was given over to games and pleasure. The smallest number present for many years enrolled, there being only eighty-eight this year. All present enjoyed themselves very much. Mrs. Catherine Turnbaugh, mother of the Turnbaugh family, was the guest of honor. Altoona Tribune, Monday morning, August 19, 1918, page 5
