B. B. van Ormer and Wife, Who Go Soon A large congregation gathered last evening in the Second Lutheran church to bid farewell to Rev. Dr. A. B. Bunn van Ormer and wife, who will leave in the near future for Huntingdon, at which place Dr. Van Ormer has accepted a position as professor of philosophy of Juniata college. A splendid program had been prepared and was well carried out. The services were opened by several victrola selections which were followed with prayer by the pastor. A recitation was well given by Miss Meda Blackburn; an appropriate address was given by Rev. Graham Walker; the girls' quartette, composed of Misses Helen Meek, Ida Brown, Marion Fleck and Elizabeth Gearhart, sang very creditably. A splendid reading which was well received by the audience was given by Mr. Kinch, a beautiful violin solo by Russell Gearhart was followed by a humorous reading by Miss Ida Brown. Rev. Dr. Stiles gave a short patriotic address in which he drew a striking comparison between the cruelty and barbarism of the Germans compared with the nobility and virtue of the American boys who are backed by the prayers of a great nation. The ladies of the church then took charge of the meeting and a social time was enjoyed at which time dainty refreshments were served. The congregation was again called to order and Rev. Walker with a few well chosen remarks presented Rev. Dr. van Ormer and his wife with a purse of gold as a slight token of the esteem and love of the congregation. This part of the meeting was a complete surprise to the pastor and his wife, but they quickly recovered and feelingly expressed their gratitude with a few words of deep appreciation.
