Miss Cora Wagner, student nurse in the Homeopathic hospital. Pittsburg, was a visitor this week at the Wagner home on Second street. Ralph Wagner, of Lewistown, formerly employed here with the Juniata Manufacturing company, and family were visitors Thursday with Williamsburg friends. Hereafter all draftees and enlisted men of this district are requested to report to Mrs. Frank P. Ross, who has charge of the yarn belonging to the Red Cross, and who will furnish them with the necessary articles made by that department, such as sweaters, socks, etc. Mrs. Milton Poet, of Hollidaysburg, was a visitor in Williamsburg on Memorial Day. Mr. and Mrs. Frank P. Stewart and young son, Frank, jr., of Oil City, are guests at the home of Mr. Stewart's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Dean Stewart, on First street. In compliance with the president's memorial proclamation requesting the people to assemble in their several houses of worship for a brief period of prayer in behalf of the allied nations at war, a union service was held in the Presbyterian church on the morning of the 30th, which was both impressive and helpful. Mrs. Charles Pifer and son Gilbert, of Newark, N.J., spent Thursday with Mrs. Pifer's brother, O. S. Brown. A message was received here Friday morning by Mr. and Mrs. Johnson Hicks, of Cove Dale road, informing them that their son, James Hicks, a member of the regular army serving in France, had been severely injured while in action. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hoover and son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sorrick, recently returned from Camp Upton, N.Y., where they visited Walter Hoover, prior to his embarkation. Private Hoover had been stationed in Texas since his enlistment about a year ago and came east shortly before leaving for France. Howard, the 2-year-old invalid son of Mr. and Mrs. Mary Kifer, of Plum street, fell from a couch on Tuesday and sustained a fracture of the hip bone. He was taken to the Altoona hospital Wednesday, where he was examined by a specialist, and later brought home. Williamsburg's quota of the thirty honor men of county draft district No. 1, who leave today for Hollidaysburg, where parting honors will be accorded them in front of the court house before leaving for Columbus barracks are: Andrew Shell, Glenn Zinlinger, Orville Sparr and Guiseppe Mondo.
