SAMUEL COWAN ALBRIGHT

A lifelong resident of Taylor township and a member of one of the pioneer 
families, died at his home southwest of Roaring Spring this morning at 6.05 
o'clock, death coming suddenly as he attempted to arise from his bed. Mr. 
Albright had been ill since last October but was able to be about. He was 
the son of Samuel B. and Catherine Cowan Albright and was born on the farm 
where he died, on Sept. 23, 1847. He spent his entire life farming until 
retiring due to advanced age a few years ago. He was united in marriage with 
Miss Mary Rock on Oct. 15, 1871. She died about five years ago. To this 
union six children were born, five of whom survive:  Mrs. William Furry and 
Harris Albright of Taylor township, James Albright of Cuyahoga Falls, O., 
and Jennie and Edward, at home. One brother, George Albright, of Roaring 
Spring, also survives, and twelve grandchildren and seven great-
grandchildren. He was a member of the Albright Church of the Brethren all 
his life and his father was the founder and donated the land for the church 
by that name south of Roaring Spring. Funeral services will be conducted at 
the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Fred R. Zook of 
Martinsburg and Rev. John B. Muler of Curryville. Interment will be made in 
the Albright church cemetery.
