After a brief illness of Bright's disease of the kidneys Otto Alexander, a well-known barber of this city, died at the residence of his father, Mr. John Alexander, No. 1009 Sixteenth street, at five minutes past 3 o'clock yesterday morning. He first complained of feeling bad two weeks ago to-day and on the following day was so much worse that he was compelled to take his bed, from which he never again arose. Deceased was born in Virginia on the 11th day of November, 1847, and consequently was in the 33d year of his age. He possessed an extensive acquaintance in the city and county and had many friends and patrons who were wont to gather at his place of business on Eleventh avenue, near the Opera House. His father, who survives him, is the only living member of the family. Otto Alexander was to have been married on Thursday of this week to Miss Lou Thompson, of Huntingdon, but at present residing with a sister in Chambersburg, the arrangements for which event had all been perfected. The funeral will take place to-morrow (Tuesday) morning at 10 o'clock, at which hour services will be held in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, on Sixteenth street. The remains will be interred in the cemetery for colored people. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday, June 21, 1880 Died. ALEXANDER - In this city, on the 20th inst., Otto Alexander, aged 32 years, 7 months and 9 days. Funeral to take place on Tuesday morning, June 22, at 10 o'clock from the A.M.E. Church. The friends of deceased are respectfully invited to attend. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday, June 21, 1880 Funeral of Otto Alexander. The funeral of the late Otto Alexander was very largely attended yesterday. Services were held in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, on Sixteenth street, by Rev. Mr. Evans. The funeral was attended by the church and society in a body, headed by Chaplain William Lyons. It is said that the venerable father of Otto is the last surviving member of his family.
