Of 3030 Fifth avenue, died at the Altoona hospital yesterday morning at 10.30 o'clock. He was born in Bedford Aug. 7, 1871, the son of John and Sarah (Mowery) Amos, and was married to Ida Catherine Tanneyhill, who died in 1930. Mr. Amos was a machinist in the Pennsylvania railroad brick foundry until his retirement in 1933. Surviving are three sons, Charles of Bellwood, Clair of Altoona and John R., jr. of Hagerstown, Md.; two daughters, Ruth Amos of Altoona and Mrs. Marian Shultzaberger of Antis; nine grandchildren; the following sisters: Miss Anna Amos, of Bedford, Mrs. Irene Householder of Indianapolis, Mrs. William Snell of Bedford and Mrs. Morris Griffith of Harrisburg; and one brother, Ralph of Altoona. Mr. Amos was a member of the Church of the Brethren. Friends will be received at the Laughlin funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening. Altoona Mirror, January 7, 1948
