With unaffected sorrow the TRIBUNE records the death of the estimable young lady whose name is placed at the head of this article. She was the daughter of George W. and C. I. Anderson, and sister of G. Graham Anderson, esq., of this city. Born October 19, 1867, she died at 5 o'clock on the morning of June 1, 1883, aged 15 years, 7 months and 12 days. Her death, though a great shock to her relatives and friends, was not unexpected, as she had been in failing health for the last two years. In February of the present year she was prostrated by a severe attack of rheumatic neuralgia. This broke down her system, already somewhat enfeebled, and her illness and weakness made her an easy prey to that dread scourge of our climate, consumption. During the weary weeks of her illness she suffered much. At last, on Friday morning, during a violent attack of coughing, she was seized by a profuse hemorrhage and in a few moments all was over; her sufferings were at an end, and her pure spirit had returned to the God who gave it. Miss Annie was a pupil of the Second ward grammar school and was pronounced by her teacher, W. W. Osborne, one of the best and most studious pupils. She was also a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church, faithful in all her religious duties. During her last illness her faith was wonderful in its simplicity and truthfulness. It is impossible to contemplate without feelings of the keenest sorrow the departure of such a bright spirit on the very threshold of life. Yet our sorrow is mitigated by the remembrance that after all the only true life is beyond the grave. Sweet be her rest. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, June 7, 1883, page 3
