All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ ROLAND ANTHONY ANGELO Roland Anthony Angelo, age 83, formerly of 903 Park Avenue, Tyrone died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006 at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care. He was born Feb. 24, 1923 in Spruce Creek, the son of the late Joseph (Giuseppe) and Tina (Concetta DiPetro) Angelo. He was married on Aug. 16, 1947 at Alexandria, PA to Betty Marie Fouse who died Sept. 30, 2002 ending a 55-year marriage. Surviving is one son Dennis L. and wife Karen J. Angelo of Industry, PA; one daughter, Nancy M., wife of Thomas S. Stoner of Altoona; four grandsons- Ian A. and wife Sarah Angelo of Washington, PA; Adrian A. and wife Mara Angelo of Ambridge, PA; Pfc. Brett W. Stoner, serving in the United States Marine Corp stationed at Fort Meade, MD and Sean M. Stoner of Altoona. Also surviving are one brother William and wife Lorrie Angelo of Tyrone; two sisters - Eva Isenberg, Alexandria, PA and Olga, wife of William Parker of Valparaiso, IN; two sisters-in-law, LaVonne Angelo of Tyrone and Mary Angelo of Altoona. A number of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Ferroni and two brothers- Aaron and Joseph. Roland was a member of the First English Lutheran Church. He retired in 1985 after 29 years service in the finishing department of Westvaco and had previously been employed for nine years with the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the European Theatre of Operations during World War II. He served from 1943 to 1946 in Company A, 661st Tank Destroyer Battalion out of Fort Hood, TX. Roland was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Anderson Denny Post No. 4559 of Tyrone, serving as Post Commander in 1953 and as an Aide-de- Camp to the VFW National Conference in Philadelphia of the same year. He enjoyed baseball, his neighbors and his four grandsons. Funeral service for Mr. Angelo will be held Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church with Pastor Susan Yatta officiating. Interment with military flag presentation will be in Blair Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday at the Church from 10 to 11 a.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to the General Fund of the First English Lutheran Church, 17 W. 13th Street, Tyrone, PA 16686.
