VIOLET "VI" REBECCA APPLEBY

Mrs. Violet "Vi" Rebecca Appleby, 89, Altoona, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at 
Altoona Hospital after an extended illness.  She was born April 2, 1913, in Hill 
Valley, a daughter of John and Ella Mae (Heck) Hileman.  She married Arthur R. 
Apleby June 24, 1933, in Altoona.  He died July 28, 1981.

Mrs. Appleby retired as a cook from Edison School in 1974 after five years of 
service.

Surviving are three children: Jack F. of Portsmouth, R.I., Harvey L. of Glen 
Burnie, Md., and Nancy A. Mach of Arthur, W. Va.,; a very loving companion, Bob 
Stell of Altoona; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters; 
Minnie Peterson of Rockhill Furnace and Mae Stemmel of Irwin.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and noon to time of services 
Wednesday at Warren H. Replogle Funeral Home.   Services for Mrs. Appleby will 
be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home by the Rev. William S. Olewiler.  
Interment at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
