Henry Kingsley Ash, aged 73, of 522 East Park avenue, Wehnwood, a retired Methodist minister, died at 2 o'clock this morning at his home as the result of a stroke suffered ten days ago. He was born in New Washington on July 18, 1866, a son of Rev. Henry M. and Adeline (Boak) Ash, and was educated at the Port Royal academy and Dickinson college. In 1892 he was ordained by the Central Pennsylvania conference of the Methodist church. Rev. Ash served pastorates at Utahville, in the Allegheny circuit, Burnt Cabins, New Bloomfield, Ennisville, Three Springs, Martinsburg, Woolrich, Milesburg, Newton, Hamilton, North Bend, Mill Hall and Marysville. He was a member of the New Bloomfield Free and Accepted Masons. Rev Ash was always instrumental in promulgating the Boy Scout movement from its inception. His devotion and sincerity in his calling endeared him to all who knew him. He was affectionately known as Pop Ash. In his various parishes he always took an active part in community enterprises. Rev. Ash had been a member of the First Methodist church of Juniata since his retirement seven years ago. He was the teacher of the largest Bible class in Juniata, the Alexander Lamberson memorial class of the First Methodist church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nan (McCauley) Ash; two sons and one daughter. Dr Henry Paul Ash of Jersey Shore, Rev Harold Girard Ash, at home, and Mrs. Paul D. Wright of State College; one grand daughter, Nan Elizabeth Ash, and two brothers, Wilbur Ash of Hughesville and Vincent B. Ash of New York City.
