AUEN [photo] Long Illness Proves Fatal Mrs. Mary A. Auen of 110 5th Ave., widow of J. Harry Auen and retired Altoona school teacher, died at 4:30 a.m. today, June 15, 1970, in Altoona Hospital, where she was admitted May 9, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Altoona Sept. 9, 1902, a daughter of Daniel M. and Nancy (Dilling) Sell, and was reared in the home of an uncle, Calvin B. Dilling. On Oct. 19, 1945, she married Mr. Auen, who died May 19, 1964. Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Lorna Geisinger and Mrs. Kathryne Boland of Altoona, Mrs. Agnes Miller of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Corinda Macready of Whittier, Calif., and Mrs. Olive Underkoffer of Bedford, N.Y. Mrs. Auen was a member of the First Church of the Brethren and taught in the beginners department for 50 years; a member of the Morrisons Cove Home and Altoona Hospital Auxiliaries, B&PW and state and national Retired Teachers Associations. A graduate of Altoona High School and Indiana State College, she taught in the city schools for a period of 42 years, retiring in 1964. Friends will be received in the Myers Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
