Aveni, 90, Gastonia, N.C., formerly of 1013 Seventh Ave., Altoona, died Sunday afternoon at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Luther N. Krape and Anna (Minneymyer) Krape. She married Joseph F. Aveni Feb. 4, 1938, in Altoona. He died Dec. 17, 1995. Surviving are a daughter, Joan G. Davidson and husband, Joseph, of Gastonia; two sons: Joseph F. Aveni Jr. and wife, Judy, of Spring Hill, Fla., and Richard P. Aveni Sr. and wife, Linda, of Altoona; 11 grandchildren: Rick Davidson, Kevin Davidson and wife, Dana, Todd Davidson and wife, Annette, and Jay Davidson and wife, Christina, all of Gastonia, John Paul Davidson and wife, Sue, of Cary, N.C., Joseph W. Davidson Jr. and wife, Mary, in New Jersey, John Aveni and wife, Cathy, in New Jersey, Crissy Hatcher and husband, Rob, in Maryland, Joseph Aveni and wife, Marcia, of Pittsburgh, Richard Aveni Jr. of State College and Andy Aveni and wife, Justine, of Altoona; 13 great- grandchildren: Joshua, Shanna, Dillin, Trevor, Cathryn, Timmy, Christopher, Corey, Anthony, Nicholas, Matthew, Eva and Kaitlynn; a sister, Anna Storkee of Castle Road, Calif.; a brother, Richard P. Krape of Point Austin, Mich.; sisters-in-law: Gina Romani of Hollidaysburg and Adeline Rayner and husband, Bill, of Manassas, Va.; a niece, Carol Kling and husband, Tim, of Altoona; along with many other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Aveni was one of 13 brothers and sisters. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Gastonia, and a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona, for many years before moving to Gastonia in 1997. Edith was a homemaker and owner/operator, along with her husband, Joseph, of Fairview Pizza Shop. Edith enjoyed camping and fishing and playing horseshoes and cards with her family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal at Calvary Cemetery. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., July 11, 2007
