AYERS Of 305 Cherry street, Roaring Spring, died at his home at 9 o'clock yesterday morning after an extended illness. He was born in East Sharpsburg Feb. 25, 1880, a son of Albert and Sara (Lynn) Ayers, and was married to Myrtle I. Brown July 30, 1899, at the Roaring Spring Lutheran parsonage by the Rev. Samples. Surviving are his widow, three daughters, Lena and Thelma, at home, and Mrs. Miriam Reitz of Roaring Spring, one son, William G. of Cleveland, O., three sisters, Mrs. Edna Shoenfelt and Mrs. Cora Baird of East Sharpsburg and Mrs. Essie Myers of Roaring Spring, four brothers, Frank and Roy of East Sharpsburg, John and Torrence of Roaring Spring, four grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. One son, Roy, preceded him in death. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran church, Roaring Spring, the P.O.S. of A., the Junior Order United American Mechanics and the Friendship Fire company. Mr. Ayers was formerly employed as a machinist by the Pennsylvania railroad, retiring in 1947. Friends will be received at the home after 7 o'clock this evening.
