Bailey Remained So During the Day and Died Last Night. Cyrus W. Bailey, of 1006 Eighth Avenue died last night at 8.20 of apoplexy, aged 68 years, 4 months and 19 days. Since the death of his wife, last fall, Mr. Bailey has lived by himself taking his meals next door to his home at Mrs. Elizabeth Kolley's. On Tuesday he was unwell and his physician, Dr. B. F Book sent him some medicine. Yesterday morning he did not make his appearance at his boarding house for breakfast. Becoming alarmed at his absence Mr. Kolley sent Frank Cole to find out what was the matter. Frank went to the house about 10 a.m., and climbing in at the window discovered Mr. Bailey in an unconscious condition lying across his bed. The boy ran out of the house and told Mrs. Kolley, and Dr. Brooks was summoned. He worked with his patient all day and last night he thought he had him on a fair way to recover when the unconscious man took the second stroke of apoplexy and died immediately. It is probable that he had the first stroke just as he was about to retire on Tuesday night, as he was undressed and lying on top of the bed covers when found by Frank Cole. The deceased was formerly a Pennsylvania Railroad conductor but has lived a retired life for some time. He has resided the most of his life in this city and was a member of Altoona lodge Independent Order Odd Fellows No 473. He is survived by no near relatives. The funeral will be in charge of the members of the Altoona lodge No. 473 Independent Order Odd Fellows. The funeral announcement will be made later.
