Bailey, one of Grazierville's best known citizens, passed away at his home at 12:05 o'clock yesterday morning, death being due to heart trouble. Mr. Bailey suffered a stroke of paralysis last July and had been confined to his bed most of the time since. William Thomas Bailey was born in this vicinity February 18, 1846, and practically all his life has been spent hereabouts. When the Civil war broke out he enlisted in the Twenty-second Pennsylvania cavalry and immediately upon his discharge from that organization he re-enlisted in the One Hundred and Tenth infantry, where he served until the end of the conflict. At the conclusion of the war he entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad company, which he faithfully served for forty-seven years, holding the position of conductor on the Middle division at the time of his retirement seven years ago. Surviving to mourn his sudden death is the wife and the following sons and daughters: Cecil A., of Baltimore; J. Ermine, of Grazierville; Mrs. John Fuoss, of Bellwood; Chas. E., William P., and Misses Vanette and Gladys, at home. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Maria Harvey, of Bucyrus, O. Mr. Bailey was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors and the Grand Army of the Republic. He was a devoted member of the Grazierville Methodist church and always an active worker in its welfare. Funeral services will be held at the late home on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. G. P. Sarvis, of Bellwood, assisted by Rev. Earl Bassler, of Birmingham.
