Death of a Child.

   Vern Harrison Baird, the bright and interesting grandson of Joshua 
and Etta Baird, of 1309 Fifth avenue, died at their home at 7 o'clock 
Saturday evening, of diphtheria.  He was taken ill on Tuesday evening.  
He was aged 4 years and 10 months.  Besides his grandparents, he is 
survived by his mother.  Funeral services will be conducted at the home 
by Rev. G. F. Snyder, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church at 9 o'clock 
this morning.  Interment will be made in Rose Hill cemetery.
