He was born June 30, 1898, at Woodbury, the son of Harry H. and Rose Aiken Barkley. On Oct. 10, 1919, at Huntingdon he was married to Eleanor Price. He had been a lifelong resident of the Birmingham area. Surviving are the widow, two brothers, Watson Barkley, Merrill, Ore.; and Paul W. Barkley, of Williamsburg; a nephew. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, of the Tyrone Lodge, Junior Mechanics, the Blazing Arrow Hook & Ladder Fire Co., Tyrone. He retired in 1960 as an employee at the West Virginia Pulp & Paper Co. plant in Tyrone, after 16 years of service. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Graham & Getz Funeral Home, in charge of the Rev. Eugene McCahan, Port Royal. Burial will be in Charlottsville Cemetery.
