Mrs. Joseph Barr, of Gaysport, another old resident of this community, died yesterday morning at 5 o'clock. Her death was caused by bronchitis, which was the result of an attack of la grippe. A more detailed account of this good woman will appear to-morrow. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday, December 31, 1890 HOLLIDAYSBURG HAPPENINGS. Mrs. Elizabeth J., wife of Mr. Joseph Barr, whose death occurred on Tuesday evening the 30th inst. [sic], at 6 o'clock, was for more than fifty years a resident of this community. She was born in Chambersburg, Pa., on the 21st of September, 1822, and removed with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George McDonough, in her childhood to this place. She was united in marriage with Mr. Joseph Barr, on the 24th day of December, 1844, with whom she has always enjoyed a happy life. She was an upright Christian woman, and the greater part of her life, from early womanhood a member of the Baptist church. She was an affectionate wife and mother and greatly esteemed by her friends and neighbors. Her family, besides her husband, comprised eight children, five sons and three daughters, all of whom survive her. They are Dr. J. D. Barr, of Upper Sandusky, O.; Cassandra, wife of Alexander Henderson, of Springfield, O.; Anna, wife of F. R. Woods, of Roaring Spring; Bertha, wife of Thomas H. Suckling, of Hollidaysburg; William M. Barr, of Patterson, N.J.; George Y. Barr, of Altoona; A. T. and H. B. Barr, of Gaysport. Mrs. Hannah Hewit, of this place, is a sister of the deceased. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. Owen James, will take place in the Baptist church on Friday afternoon, beginning at 2 o'clock. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, January 1, 1891
