Lincoln Avenue, Tyrone, died Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 3:22 p.m. at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. She was born February 1, 1918 in Altoona, the daughter of H. Arthur and C. Agnes Brisbin Yarnell. On November 22, 1945 at the First Presbyterian Church she was married by Dr. Robert L. Hutchinson to William C. Barr Jr. who preceded her in death September 9, 1997. She is survived by two children, Andrew S. Barr of Altoona and Diana, wife of Colonel (R) R. Gary Dinsick of Millersville, MD; three grandchildren, John, Lauren, and Bethany Dinsick, and a sister Mrs. Jean (Marlin) Sawyer of Pleasant Hills, PA. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jackson G. and William H. Yarnell. Mrs. Barr was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1936. She had been employed for 15 years in the main office of Westvaco, retiring as secretary to the mill manager. She was later employed as a secretary at Batcheler Travel Service and retired in 1984 from the Tyrone law office of Henry, Corcelius, Gates, Gill, and Ody. She was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon, a member of the Westminster Choir and as an officer in the Mariners. She was a 30 year member of the Tyrone Service League and had served as president of that organization. She had served on the Board of Directors of the Blair County Cancer Society and was an active member of the Friends of the Library and the Red Cross Bloodmobile. Sue enjoyed painting, reading, and working crossword puzzles. Funeral service for Margaret 'Sue' Barr will be Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Reverend Mark Liller officiating. Interment will be in Blair Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. Contributions in her memory can be made to the Tyrone Snyder Public Library, 1000 Pennsylvania Avenue, Tyrone, PA 16686.
