A telegram was received last evening announcing the death, yesterday at 6 a.m., of J. T. Batzell at Lorain, Ohio. The remains will be brought to the home of his brother-in-law, W. H. Lee, 407 Eighth avenue, Altoona, this evening. He was a prominent member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and was employed as a machinist at Lorain. He formerly worked at Johnstown. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday, August 21, 1899 Funeral of J. T. Batzell. The remains of Joseph T. Batzell, who died in Lorain, O., Sunday morning, were brought to this city last evening and taken to the residence of his brother-in-law, W. H. Lee, of 407 Eighth avenue. The funeral will take place from Mr. Lee's residence at 10.30 o'clock to- morrow morning, and the services will be conducted by Rev. J. F. Hartman. Interment in Oak Ridge cemetery. The deceased was 32 years of age and was formerly employed as a machinist in the Juniata shops. At the time of his death, which was caused by appendicitis, he was night foreman of the Lorain steel works, which employs 2,000 men. He was a member of the Masons of Johnstown, the Odd Fellows of this city, and of the Johnstown Lutheran church.
