After years of suffering, which were borne uncomplainingly because they came at the hand of the Master, and with a Christian fortitude which comes only to those who have so ordered their lives that the final summons are but sounds welcomed because of the happiness to follow, Mrs. John Becht, beloved mother of Harry Slep, of the Mirror, passed to her reward yesterday morning. Her death occurred at her son's residence, No. 1018 Green avenue, at 7 o'clock. Mrs. Becht was born in Ober Kaufungen, Germany, April 15, 1811, and had consequently long since passed the three score and ten years allotted to us in our journey on earth. For many years she made her home in Mechanicsburg, Cumberland county, and four years ago came to Altoona and made her home with her only son - Mr. Slep. Her aged husband, who resides with his grand-daughter, Mrs. Alice Haggerty, in Antis township, with many grand and great-grand children, are left to mourn their loss. Funeral services will be held at the residence of Mr. Slep at 3.30 o'clock on Friday afternoon, and at their conclusion the interment will be made in Fairview cemetery.
