Mr. Beckwith was the son of Edward and Harriet Beckwith and was born at Clarinda, Iowa, July 4, 1861. When he was a year old his parents moved to Hannah Furnace, in Bald Eagle valley, where the deceased had since resided. His occupation was that of a day laborer. Eighteen years ago this month he was united in marriage to Mary McCullough, of Smith’s Mills, Clearfield county, who preceded her husband to the grave six years ago. To this union were born six children, five of who survive their parents. They are : Mary and Charlotte, of Tyrone, and Zillah, Lloyd and Harry, of Hannah. Mr. Beckwith is also survived by three brothers – Squire Vinton Beckwith, of Hannah; Lloyd, of Oakland, Md., and Joseph Beckwith , of Patton. The deceased was an attendant on the services of the United Brethren church and died in the hope of a glorious resurrection. His illness was caused by an affection of the gall bladder and has been sapping his vitality for several years. With the hope of regaining his health he underwent an operation on Monday last at the Altoona hospital. Funeral service were held at 10 o’clock Sunday forenoon at the home of Squire Vinton Beckwith, at Hannah. Interment at Mount Pleasant cemetery, near at hand.
