"Pete" Beckwith, St., 65, of 200 I. 12th St., Tyrone, died at 5:50 pm. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1992 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born Jan. 12, 1927 in Tyrone, a son of Raymond Leroy and Pearl Mattie (Wolf) Beckwith. He was married Nov. 29, 1952 at Winchester, Va., to Helen L. Kerchner. He is survived by his wife and one son, Gilbert P. Beckwith, Jr., of Tyrone. Also surviving are three granddaughters: Shannon Marie Beckwith, Kimberly Ann Beckwith and Wendy Lynn Beckwith, all of Tyrone. Two brothers and one sister survive: Robert M. Beckwith, of Fort Myers, Fla.; James F. Beckwith, Marjorie Barrie, both of Tyrone. A half brother and half sister survive, also: Delbert E. Hamer, Tyrone and Helen Price, Flinton. He was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey L. and one brother and two sisters. He attended the Christ United Methodist Church and was a member of me V.F.W. Post 4559, the Hookies Fire Co., the National A.A.R.P. and a member of Local Union No. 354 Plumbers and Pipefitters of Latrobe. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the submarine service. He resigned Aug. 10, 1992 from Tyrone Borough Council after 14 years of service. He served four years as vice president and was chairman of the sewer committee for one term. He was chairman of the police committee for two terms and served as acting borough manager for nine months. He retired September, 1989, as a Master Plumber and Pipefitter for Local Union No. 354 of Latrobe after 17 years service. Funeral service will be held Friday, Sept, 11, 1992 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Neil R. Albright officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc. and one hour before time of service, Friday.
