Mrs. Beegle Was Instantly Killed, and Her Husband's Condition Critical. This morning at 9.20 o'clock a fearful tragedy was enacted on the state road between Ant Hill and the Katzmyer Crossing when a wife and mother was instantly killed and a husband and father probably fatally injured. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beegle, of Claysburg, were enroute to Altoona and were speeding along in a Hudson sedan when near the Ant Hill Station, they attempted to pass another car, when it was noticed a third car was approaching. In throwing on the brakes suddenly, the Beegle car skidded completely around twice and then backed swiftly on the Logan Valley trolley track. A Hollidaysburg car bound for Hollidaysburg happened along just as the sedan ran over the rails and struck the automobile broadside with a mighty crash. Mrs. Beegle had her neck broken and died almost instantly. Dr W. H. Howell who resides in the vicinity of Ant Hill happened along about the time the accident occurred, and after giving Mr. Beegle first aid treatment, rushed the injured man to the Mercy Hospital. At a late hour this afternoon, his condition was considered very serious and it is feared his injuries will also prove fatal. The handsome new Hudson sedan was completely smashed to pieces.
