Deceased was born in Georgia and when about 13 years of age came to Bedford, where he lived for over 19 years. Some ten years ago he became steward at the Elk's Club, Altoona, and this position he held for a period of six years and later he took the same position at the Eagles' home but was compelled to relinquish the duties three years ago when stricken with paralysis. Deceased was a member of the colored Odd Fellows and Masons and was also a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He is survived by his wife, four sons and two daughters: George, Charles, Calvin, Austin, Nora and Ida. Bedford Gazette, Bedford, Pa., November 15, 1907
