Bell, of Bellwood, died at the home of his daughter in Harrisburg. He had been in ill health for several months, suffering at time excruciating pain, and death was to him a deliverance from great physical misery. Mr. Bell was the oldest child of Samuel and Margaret Morrison Bell and was born at Vineyard Mills, in Mifflin county, September 11, 1828. He had attained to nearly the three score years and ten, the allotted life of man. He was the last survivor of his father's family. In 1853 he was married to Miss Rebecca Smelker, with whom he lived in the tenderest and most pleasant relations for more than forty years. One son, Thomas, of the car record office, Philadelphia, and five daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Moore and Mrs. Alice Meredith, of Bellwood; Mrs. Nellie Charles and Miss Sib, of Harrisburg, and Mrs. Frances Bechtel, of Altoona, survive him. His wife preceded him to the grave only by a few months. Mr. Bell possessed many kindly qualities, which endeared him to those who knew him most intimately. Being rather reticent in his manner, he was slow to form acquaintances, but he easily retained those who secured his confidences. The early part of his life was spent on a farm. In 1870 he removed to Altoona, where he remained about seven years. Since that time he has been a resident of Bellwood. His funeral will take place this afternoon and the interment will be in Logan Valley cemetery, where so many of his friends are buried. Altoona Tribune?, August 8, 1898
