BELL - In this city, on the 26th inst., William Bell, in the 76th year of his age. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, August 30, 1877, page 3 Burial of Wm. Bell. This morning the remains of Wm. Bell, esq., lay in the parlor of his residence on Eighth avenue, between Eleventh and Twelfth streets, and were viewed by numbers of his old friends and acquaintances and friends of the family. The coffin wherein he lay was made of walnut trimmed with ebony and silver; in the centre was a silver place four by five inches, with the following inscription on it. Wm. Bell Born May 29, 1802. Died Aug. 26, 1877. At the foot of the coffin was a wreath and a crown of evergreens and lilies, and on the top a star and an anchor of the same. A French plate glass two and a half feet long by eight inches wide allowed the features of the corpse to be seen. A large concourse collected at the dwelling this afternoon, and after the exercises by Revs. Henry Baker and J. F. Shearer followed the remains to their last resting place in Fairview cemetery.
