BENDER Of 904 Second avenue, better known to his friends as Chief, died at 4.50 o'clock this morning at the Altoona hospital, where he was admitted July 6. He was born in the city Sept. 13, 1901, a son of Charles P. and Philomena (Wissinger) Bender, and was employed at the Diamond grille. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen (Paisley) Bender; one sister and five brothers, Anthony C., Charles and Mrs. Cecelia Gildea of Hollidaysburg, John L. of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Vincent and Joseph of the city. Mr. Bender was a member of Mount Carmel Catholic church. Friends will be received at the N. A. Stevens mortuary after noon Friday. FUNERAL NOTICE BENDER - The funeral of Carl E. (Chief) Bender of 904 Second avenue, will be held Monday morning with requiem mass at 9 o'clock in Mt. Carmel church. Interment in Calvary cemetery. Friends are being received at the N. A.
